Improvers Wheel Work Sessions

Our improvers wheel throwing class is for those who have had at least a little experience on the potter’s wheel and have preferably completed one of our introduction to wheel work classes or something similar.

It is designed to help you develop your wheel throwing skills, for people who loved their initial wheel throwing experience and want to take the next step in their wheel throwing journey! It is also great for those who have tried previously and want a refresh.

It’s almost like an extended version of the wheel taster but you’ll learn a few extra skills and get to finish your pieces to a higher standard by learning to turn (or trim) and/or add a handle handle.

This class has a duration of 2 hours which includes time for cleaning your wheels.  Clay is included in the prices of the class. If you would like to keep any pieces at the end, firing is extra.

All of our wheel throwing courses are in groups of up to 7 people so you’ll have plenty of time with the tutor and it will still be a relaxing experience as well as good fun.

Please wear comfortable clothing that you are relaxed about getting messy. We recommend trousers as you’ll sit close to the wheel as you throw. Please ensure long hair is tied back, jewellery, watches, long necklaces, scarves etc are removed.

Please note that it is very difficult to throw pots with long nails.
